Our History

Donnelly’s Restaurant has a long tradition, being the oldest restaurant in Baytown, Texas.    The restaurant dates back to 1939 and was originally owned by the Pace family.

In 1972, Clara Mae Donnelly bought the restaurant and renamed it “Donnelly’s Mexican Restaurant”.    Literally generations of families have dined there and continue to return for the great food and friendly atmosphere.

After Clara’s death in 1989, her daughter, Mary Donnelly Parker, took over the restaurant.  Mary had started working at the restaurant after she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School.  Today, the family tradition continues as Mary and her brother Tom, continue to run the restaurant.

Not only does the restaurant have a long tradition, it’s also known for great food in a ‘homey’ atmosphere.  The unique décor made up of a large license plate collection and Coca-Cola memorabilia, will keep you entertained while you enjoy the home made chips and salsa as you await your order.

We invite you to visit us soon at 410 N. Commerce, Baytown, Tx.  and see why Donnelly’s has thrived for over seventy years.

"I have been coming to Donnelly's for over 30 years.  I love to eat Mary's homemade chicken & dumplings, chocolate cake, fried catfish and Mexican food.  You should come and check out all her good food and her excellent homemade hot sauce."
